Meter readers will visit most customer's properties every month to obtain meter readings. In order for them to log in the correct information, we need to bill you for theactual amount of gas you use. To read your own meter, follow these simple steps:
1. Use the dials shown in the example to determine the exact position of your meter.
2. From the position of the dial hands, record the meter reading. If the dial hand is between two numbers, please record the lowest of the two. If it is between 9 and 0, then 9 is the lower number.
3. Use this method to check against your bill each month and to help you adjust your usage or to check for wasteful appliances.
The Gas Company's energy service charge covers the costs of transporting natural gas through our pipeline system. The wholesale gas prices we pay are based on market supply and demand and are not marked up by Lake Apopka Natural Gas District. We do not produce natural gas. We buy it from producers and marketers at the best possible price on the open market. Differences in your billing from month to month, may be due to changes in the weather, the number and types of appliances used, number of days between meter readings and the number of guests and family members in your home during the billing cycle. Occasionally, rate changes or changes in the cost of gas will affect the total amount due on your bill. If for any reason, the meter reader can't see your meter due to shrubs, obstacles or pets, a bill estimation may be calculated. This is based on factors such as previous usage, and the length of days in the billing cycle.
